Fixed parallax set at 100 yards keeps the picture sharp at typical rimfire and hunting distances
One-inch mono-tube chassis is nitrogen purged and rated shockproof, waterproof and fog proof
Capped, resettable quarter-MOA turrets hold zero and stay snag-free in the field
Backed by Hawke's No-Fault Lifetime Warranty for long-term peace of mind
The Vantage line has long been the default recommendation for shooters buying their first proper scope, and the illuminated 3-9x40 sits right in the sweet spot. It pairs a glass-etched Mil Dot reticle with five-level red and green illumination, so the aiming point stays visible against dark quarry or in failing light. The 3-9x zoom range is genuinely versatile, wide enough for close shots in cover and with enough magnification for precise work out to a hundred yards.
Optically it punches above its price. The 40mm objective and eleven-layer fully multi-coated H2 glass deliver a bright, sharp picture across the magnification range, while the one-inch mono-tube chassis is nitrogen purged and sealed against water and fog. Parallax is fixed at 100 yards on this model, which keeps things simple and works well for rimfire and centrefire at normal ranges. Airgunners who shoot closer in and want to dial out parallax should look instead at the adjustable-objective (AO) version.
Capped, resettable quarter-MOA turrets hold zero reliably, and the whole scope carries Hawke's No-Fault Lifetime Warranty. For anyone setting up a .22 rimfire, a .17 HMR or a hunting air rifle on a budget, this illuminated Vantage is a dependable, no-nonsense choice that will outlast the rifle it sits on.

No. This is the fixed-parallax model, with parallax pre-set at 100 yards. If you need to adjust parallax for close-range shooting, Hawke makes an AO version of the same scope with an adjustable objective bell.
It'll sit happily on a sub-12 ft·lb air rifle, with one caveat. Because parallax is fixed at 100 yards, targets at typical airgun ranges (roughly 15 to 40 yards) can show slight parallax error. For dedicated close-range airgun work the AO or Airmax versions are a better fit. For .22 rimfire, .17 HMR and general hunting at normal distances, the fixed parallax is fine.
Yes. The glass-etched Mil Dot reticle has five brightness levels in both red and green, set with a stepped rheostat and powered by the supplied CR2032 battery. With illumination off it works as a standard black etched reticle, so a flat battery never leaves you without an aiming point.
The reticle sits in the second focal plane, so it stays the same visual size as you zoom. That means the mil spacing is only true at one set magnification, the top of the range on this model. Zoom down and the subtensions no longer correspond to true mils, worth remembering if you use the dots for holdover or ranging.
The scope has a one-inch (25.4 mm) main tube, so you'll need one-inch rings or mounts to match your rifle's dovetail or Picatinny rail. Mounts aren't included. The box holds the scope, flip-off lens covers, a lens cloth, the CR2032 battery and the manual.
