Description

The UTG Bug Buster 3-12x32 has earned a strong following among air rifle and rimfire shooters for good reason. It packs a genuinely useful magnification range into a compact body that measures just 205 mm long and weighs 372g. Short and light enough to sit comfortably on spring-powered air rifles, PCPs, and .22 LR rimfires without upsetting the balance.

Where this scope really stands out is its side-adjustable parallax, which dials down to just 3 yards. That makes it exceptionally well suited to close-range pest control and garden shooting, where many full-size scopes simply cannot focus sharply enough. At the other end, 12x magnification gives you plenty of reach for paper targets at 50–100 yards. Turret feel is a highlight at this price. The lockable, resettable target turrets click at 1/3 MOA per click, offering 60 MOA of total elevation and windage travel. Once you have your zero dialled in, you can lock it down and reset the markings, a feature more commonly found on pricier glass.

The wire Mil-dot reticle is a proven design for holdover and range estimation, and it holds up well under recoil thanks to UTG's True Strength construction platform. Emerald-coated lenses deliver a clear, bright image across the magnification range, and the scope is fully sealed and nitrogen-filled against moisture and fog.

The package includes quick-detach Picatinny rings, a 2-inch sunshade, and flip-open lens caps, so there is very little else to buy.

Note that this version ships with Picatinny/Weaver rings, if your rifle uses 11 mm dovetail rails, UTG offer a dovetail-ring variant instead.

A well-proven compact scope for air rifle and rimfire shooters who want reliable glass, close-focus parallax, and quality turrets without stretching to premium prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the UTG Bug Buster 3-12x32 suitable for air rifles?

Yes, this is one of the most popular scopes for air rifles in the UK. The True Strength platform is tested on both air rifles and firearms, including spring-powered rifles that produce a unique two-way recoil. The close-focus parallax adjustment down to 3 yards makes it particularly well suited to garden and short-range pest control shooting.

What rings are included, and will they fit my rifle?

This version ships with quick-detach lever-lock rings for Picatinny and Weaver rails. If your rifle has 11 mm dovetail rails, common on many air rifles, you will need the dovetail-ring variant (SCP-M312AOD) or a separate set of dovetail rings. Check your rail type before ordering.

What does "side-adjustable parallax" mean, and why does the 3-yard minimum matter?

Parallax causes the reticle to appear to shift against the target when you move your eye behind the scope. The side-mounted turret lets you dial out parallax at any distance from 3 yards to infinity without reaching forward to the objective bell. A 3-yard minimum focus is unusually close, most full-size scopes bottom out at 10 yards or more, making this scope ideal for close-range air rifle shooting.

Can I use this scope on a .22 LR rimfire or centrefire rifle?

It works well on .22 LR rimfires and is a popular choice for that application. For centrefire rifles, the scope is rated to handle recoil and the turret travel is adequate for moderate ranges, but the compact 32 mm objective and 3-12x magnification range are best suited to rimfire and air rifle distances rather than long-range centrefire work.

What are the turret adjustments, and can I reset them to zero?

The turrets adjust in 1/3 MOA per click with 60 MOA of total travel in both elevation and windage. Once you have established your zero, the turrets can be locked in place and the dials reset to zero, so you always know how many clicks you are away from your base zero.

Does the scope need a battery?

No. The reticle is not illuminated, so there is no battery to replace or run flat. The scope is entirely mechanical and ready to use straight from the box.
